Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of Nest Egg (the app, related websites, and services at mynestegg.org). By creating an account or using Nest Egg, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. What Nest Egg is
Nest Egg is a personal finance companion that helps you visualize savings goals (“Nests”), connect accounts (optionally via Plaid), and chat with an in-app companion (Birdy). It is a software tool — not a bank, broker, advisor, or tax service.
2. Not financial advice
Content in Nest Egg — including projections, pay-period leftovers, educational material, and “VT + Chill” / Uncle VT — is for general information and motivation only. It is not personalized investment, tax, legal, or financial advice. You are solely responsible for your money decisions. Consult a licensed professional before investing.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email and keep access to it secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, or violate these Terms.
4. Linked banks (Plaid)
If you link institutions, you authorize Nest Egg to receive account and transaction data through Plaid under Plaid’s terms. Connections are typically read-oriented; Nest Egg does not move money from your bank on your behalf. You can disconnect links; residual copies may remain briefly as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: reverse engineer the service in a way that violates law; overload or disrupt our systems; scrape or resell data; misuse AI chat; or use Nest Egg for unlawful activity.
6. Intellectual property
Nest Egg’s design, characters (including Birdy and Uncle VT), text, and software are owned by us or our licensors. You keep ownership of the personal content you enter; you grant us a license to host and process it to operate the service.
7. Disclaimers
Nest Egg is provided “as is.” We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service, perfect bank sync accuracy, or that projections will match future results. Markets, institutions, and third-party APIs can fail or change.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for investment losses, arising from your use of Nest Egg. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for Nest Egg in the 12 months before the claim or (b) fifty U.S. dollars ($50).
9. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes may be announced in-app or by email.
